Can you imagine Mastodon raising 100 MILLION dollars from a crypto VC fund and failing to disclose it... for a full year? Mike Masnick, who sits on the board of #Bluesky, claims the team was too busy to announce the series B funding (see screenshot).But something is fishy.Even the VC firm - Bain Capital Crypto - isn't listing Bluesky anywhere on their website: https://baincapitalcrypto.com/portfolio/Why the mystery? Was Bluesky afraid of a public backlash & asked to keep the information under wraps?Sorry if I keep repeating myself but I will forever be skeptical of Bluesky and think of the tale of the scorpion and the frog.

Yesterday I had the incredible opportunity of giving a presentation for the service numérique of the French Ministry of Culture, as part of their experiment with the Mastodon instance @cercle My talk: "The Fediverse: the original promise of the internet"It was super inspiring to listen to all the talks of the participants, from the @palaisdetokyo to @LeMuseum. A routine reminder that it's always a good idea to boycott #Substack. We have long known that it platforms and profits from Nazi publications. And now: #manosphere influencers with multiple accusations of serious crimes... so much so that there is a dedicated Wikipedia page about them: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legal_affairs_of_the_Tate_brothersNo problem for #Substack though! They happily take a 10% cut from all paid subscriptions.There are many great alternatives to SS: Ghost, Buttondown, beehiiv, Patreon... no more excuses

Final prep for my #2MR speech. If my promo video was a 4 min love letter to the Fediverse, well this 15 minute presentation is the extended cut, wishing to spread hope and joy about the future of this incredible online space.I’m feeling a tad emotional this morning because when I turned on my phone at 6:30am I had LOTS of messages of encouragement from Fedi friends - who texted me on Signal and Matrix. Its founders have ties with European politicians - but there is no official involvement by the EU. You wouldn't know any of this from media reports because they all rehashed their talking points. I just refreshed the #WSocial website and it's showing a MAJOR redesign... with a label at the top stating "built on the open AT-protocol." This is the first time ever they acknowledge this – I know, as I've been visiting their website for MONTHS and also never heard about this in any interviews. So the claims in my exposé stand (the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine would confirm this).Of note: they changed their URL from wsocial.eu to wsocial.newsBTW thanks for all your feedback ❤️

Dear Fedi friends,I'm grateful to see how far I've come, self-hosting-wise. My favorite way of upgrading my #YunoHost installation is in Terminal, using #tmux. It's really empowering for a non-dev like me. Thank you @yunohost and all the Fedi folks offering help and advice.Now that I'm done with my investigative articles (I HOPE I'm done) I can dive back into #mesh and #reticulum. Update no.3: my #MeshCore Bluetooth companion is picking up my Meshcore Repeater - YAY 🥳 We had to leave Paris in a hurry last month because of the brutal heatwave so I forgot the cases there. But here in Italy I have an endless supply of LEGO, so I built a custom housing for my Heltec v3 repeater, its battery and antenna. I really like it 🥰

@dangillmor Sheeran’s statement about this was absolutely nauseating, doubling down on being « apolitical » for the sake of his audience, including children. Dude, you can’t be apolitical in front of a genocide.I’m somehow comforted by the outspokenness of everyone who dropped out of his tour. There was one statement in particular that gave me the chills for its clarity and boldness. I’ll share it if I find it…
