       @Gaolaitch I didn’t look too closely at the rest of the page to see if it was a necessary compromise or just got overlooked. I suspect overlooked, b/c this composer tends to put out reliably  readable scores usually

       What makes it even funnier is that the composer Puccini wasn’t planning to have ANY big arias (solo show-stopper songs) in the opera. The story is a big cast comedy and no one singer was supposed to have a massive solo feature. But the soprano nagged and nagged for an aria, so Puccini finally wrote her one where she got to nag and nag while singing (3/?)
