       I wish people understood that "exploit found in open-source project" is how open-source projects get MORE, not LESS secure. You do not "make software without vulnerabilities." You fix them when they are found, just like other bugs. "Vulnerability found" does not mean "stop using permanently"Critically, closed-source programs don't even need to be exploited for your information to be at risk. I'd rather my data be in plaintext on Mastodon than quantum-safe encrypted in Facebook's database.

       I just roll my eyes and continue my day when I see people talking about this stuff, though. You'll never convince someone happily using Discord that thinks Matrix is dangerously unsafe, or who uses Facebook but thinks Mastodon is dangerously unsafe.Yeah, they're wrong, but you're not going to fix them.        I have found contention online whether Kaimana means "Power of the sea" (Kai + Mana) or "Diamond" (Kaimana). Due to his personality, both work perfectly, so I don't think I will worry about it. He is a surfer and saltwater fisherman with a huge shark bite on his left pec. His birthstone is diamond.

       I am debating whether Kiki should know Taekwondo or Aikido. Aikido would make sense in Japan and has a reputation of "using your opponents strength against them". Which I do not entirely believe as a concept but it matches Kiki's power well.Taekwondo I have much more experience with, and I have a lot of respect for the Taekwondo oath. But it does not include weapons, and being a parody-shonen I plan to have various enemy and improvised weapons for coolness sake.

       I am just slightly leaning toward taekwondo for personal reasons, though. The Korean flag at the dojo always felt comforting.        Shine is bigger, but Soot is much more of a "hunter". I have never had a cat as clumsy as Shine, I wonder if something is medically wrong with his balance. He can just barely jump on my bed, Soot jumps straight to the mantle on the fireplace and knows I can't really stop her.
