       @georgia They won't do many things - they won't do board repair for example - all they do is board swaps.You should ask your mum as to why apple wouldn't restore the execution of their malware and spyware OS at no charge?

       @wolf480pl @nullenvk Python ever since version v3.14.0a4, is proprietary slopware.But, if you use a free fork of python 3.13 without pointless changes, you won't see breakages once software is ported to 3.13.

       @wolf480pl @nullenvk The GNU Compiler Collection has flags you can set to not treat warnings as errors and you can just use the same version of GCC with your python version.With decently written software, I personally haven't had any issue getting 20 year old software to compile with the latest GCC.

       @wolf480pl @nullenvk Yes, unfortunately poorly written software can have wrong headers, which later versions of GCC decided maintaining support for wrong headers was too hard - but that issue isn't forbiddingly hard to solve - you fix the headers.

       @georgia Unfortunately, f-droid builds everything with a proprietary google SDK, which likely injects proprietary malware into each apk.Replicant doesn't ship any proprietary software, or apk's not built with a free SDK - too bad the devices have a nonfree handcuffed bootloader and the wireless chipset software is proprietary (but you can just not load that).

       @georgia Debian has had nonfree software for decades - although recently they've gone and started including proprietary software in the only available official installer and installing it permanently without asking.

       @georgia If one package is proprietary, that's not a problem, as well you just delete the package and then the OS is free.But it's never just one - as soon as the evil sort manage to get one proprietary program in the door, they don't stop - they keep adding more and more, until you've ended up with a kernel that is >51% proprietary software and an OS with so much proprietary software, that the amount of proprietary software seems to dwarf the amount of free software.
