       @Jes  Right?  And not just from the user perspective. I was genuinely surprised at how well a decade old laptop ran a NextCloud instance for me and my gaming table.   It's crazy what they can do when you don't shovel crap one doesn't need or want in there.

       @Jes EXACTLY.  I've got an even older laptop running a few other background tasks as well.  It's pretty awesome how supposedly "outdated" hardware works just fine...

       @jana This is effectively what I do; I pull down everything via either POP3 or offlineIMAP and then process it locally, and use Namecheap's SMTP server to send.

       @mwl @susankayequinn As a short-run strategy, the only thing I can think of as mitigation is what @mwl and some others are already doing:  Diversify, build fans, sell directly whenever possible, encourage doing something other than exclusives with giant corps that don't have your interests in mind.
