So I'm likely going to be publishing a bunch of long form posts I've been holding onto for too long. This is the first. It is a long read. It doesn't have a pretty picture. who is building the job search site for jobs where "nothing about this job involves AI"?Yes I've actually founded a what would not be called AI startup. No I don't want to build out an AI practice at any future job. Nearly every job listing I see on LinkedIn these days (even tangentially relevant to my skills/background) involve running an AI practice - or is for an AI related startup (which apparently is every startup these days even where it really doesn't fit well) #getFedihired

I think there are very very narrow spaces where AI/LLMs make sense (but in most of those spaces you don't need anything like the scale being built out today) - everywhere else tossing VC funds (or actual profits) at AI companies instead of investing in actual human talent knowledgable in your field seems incredibly short sighted to me. Yet I'm seeing a lot of companies doing this instead of investing in the admittedly often boring basics of building a lasting business - offering real value

@ariadne @aburka you want to talk with a good estate attorney. They will help you with not just a will but setting up medical directives, power of attorney etc. and can advise you on how to best protect your assets and set them up for your heirs (or whatever organization you want to get them in the future)A family office is typically for folks with $100M+ (or so I’ve heard - I do know a few families with them). But it’s very common (especially in the Bay Area) to have a revocable trust

@ariadne @aburka honestly a good attorney makes the process pretty straightforward. (And giving away your assets is a real option - lots of people make it their goal before they die to have largely given away their assets while they are still around to choose how to have an impact)But yeah it’s definitely in the “serious adulting” category of life tasks.

@ariadne a challenge is how to let and get people to connect over the stuff that isn’t their “main” thing - so much of the web is built assuming that folks share the same jargon, the same focus, that everyone on a given board somewhere is equally invested in that topic as their identity. Which makes many such spaces (and many social networks) hard to engage with when a topic isn’t your everything - just something you might want to try or are curious about or you do but aren’t highly invested

@Gargron Is there a way to see a sample of the feed of the artists (or anyone) in a given collection? i.e. not just a list of the accounts but view of their feeds? I trust your list but also want to see each artist's feed to see if I would enjoy following them (something I do with most people before I follow) - for stuff like if they boost a lot vs have original posts or if their content if NSFW (I don't mind that - just want it tagged so it doesn't show up on my feed when browsing in public)
