       cw plush ec@plush_bot's operator very kindly sent me this little fluffy wolf a while back. they arrived at the weekend but i only had a chance to unpack them yesterday evening. i've been snuggling them all day and all night. a canine plushie was just what i needed, turns out.thank you, @plush_bot.(also thank you for the haribo)

       despite the heat wave i am not a lover of Air Conditioning. that's just adding extra load to our grid.*we really should be subsidising the installation of passive cooling devices. awnings, shutters, brise soleil, windcatchers and other passive roof ventilation systems. hell, even just extra insulation topped with white paint.for new houses i'd love to see designs that incorporate elements from other, hotter countries, too.

       really love some of the designs incorporated into places like Iran and Iraq and India. salsabils, windcatchers, etc., but also things like putting atria in buildings so you can use the stack effect to cool the house passively.

       * forgot to follow up here, heating in the UK is done via water rather than air. hot water cylinder also heats the closed loop that fills the radiators. if we used central air, we could pretty easily swap out the heaters for a system that can do heating and cooling with minimal impact, but currently we'd be looking at an extra like. 3-4kW? per house? maybe more?
