This was first posted by Iam_temidayooyetunde on Threads back on 06/03/2025, it was subsequently picked up and made to look like a book page by an addiction support group. Y'all, I was just chatting with Brian Gordon (@elasticsoul and author of You're not Crazy, the World Is), and I think I may have accidentally hit upon a plan to save the world! Dominatrices! All of them. A battalion of Goddesses (Gods are available) in severe lipstick marching into executives offices and telling them "No." They've never had anyone tell them No in their entire privileged nepo baby lives. They've been pampered and given "good boy" trophies for showing up. They need to hear No. Every time they reach for an "AI initiative" button, deliver a small punishment; a shock, a hogtie, a withholding of stock options, whatever works. Every time they reach for the "Layoffs" button instead of cutting executive salaries? Punish. Every time they try to buy a third yacht? Oh, you know that's a paddlin'. I'm just saying y'all...it could work! Doms aren't cheap, but it could be worth the budget spend...

@nyc @davidaugust When I was a kid, I ran away from a UK convent with a boy from Transylvania. As you do. I had an amazing time where we slipped inside the Iron Curtain and travelled around areas Americans never saw, and even now probably don’t go. We rode horses through areas that felt primeval and untouched, and would pop out into a village somewhere where we didn’t speak the language, I was clearly American, and everyone, everywhere was kind and welcoming. (Except East German police, whooboy was that a thing.) Point being, I have lived all over the world. I have traveled extensively, just as a curious human. I can muddle through a few languages, but it’s obvious I’m an American, albeit an incredibly polite one. We’re a special breed, Americans. And by special, I mean loud and space taking. We have so much territory we don’t know how to behave in tight quarters.But never have I heard it expressed that anyone wants to “conquer” the US. They’d like us to not be bullies.

@privateger Was curious so checked US prices. They're inline with what you're seeing. There's a ton of "recertified" drives in the $500 range, but the Exos and Ironwolf new are all up at this range. I hadn't realized they'd gone up that much.

So, the kakistocracy has decided the best way to deal with the #IranWar is to add more corn juice to our gasoline. And that's a problem.Most of the gas labeled 88 at American pumps is #E10, 10% ethanol. And ethanol does indeed help make gas cheaper. But it is 33% less efficient, and in hot months dramatically increases smog. Ethanol is also a hygroscopic solvent. Unless a vehicle is labeled "flex fuel", running 15% ethanol for more than a tank or two may cause damage to seals, rubber bits, and even aluminum. If your engine was manufactured before 2001, E15 can melt your valves. Literally. It makes the car run less efficiently, produces significantly more #pollution, and can damage many existing vehicles on the market. Nasdaq rewrote its #index inclusion rules to accommodate #SpaceX’s mega-IPO, implementing a "Fast Entry" provision that allows the company to join the Nasdaq-100 index just 15 trading days after its initial public offering, down from the standard three-month seasoning period. They also eliminated the minimum float requirement of 20% available public shares and instead stocks with less than 20% of shares publicly traded, Nasdaq applies a 3x multiplier to the free-float for index weighting purposes, artificially inflating low-float giants like SpaceX in passive funds. Well, Beverly only had 5 days to comply before I guess they were going to drag an octogenarian off to the hoosegow, and the local news covered it, and some good Samaritans stepped in and cleaned up her yard....And that was supposed to be the feel good part. And yes, good Samaritans are awesome, I hope we all find that in ourselves.But the bigger point here is that:1.) It was allowed to happen in the first place. 2.) The city responded with threats of violence to get compliance about freaking weeds.3.) We're supposed to feel good that the mercy of strangers saved a woman from a Kafkaesque government. Just. Grrr. It is not necessarily malicious, but it certainly can be.
