       The USSR's Venera photos were something emotionally powerful for me as a kid. I'm not even able to explain it now, but we only have images from three probes of the planet surface. That's it. The place is so absolutely extreme, so dangerous, that it devoured the probes in the span of minutes to hours. We talk about Mars being Earth-like, but it's not. It's abysmally not.        Happy Ides!Today is the Idus of Martius by Roman counting, and contains many celebrations, ceremonies and festivals!Today closes celebrations of the new year with a festival for the goddess of the year.Devotees of Zeus (and anyone not wanting his wrath, I guess) might observe the sacrifice of a goat by his priests.We even have ritual forgiveness of debts on the 15!Finally, we have murdering petty leaders and tyrants and overthrowing their regimes.        I get you might not get how somethings are made, maybe you don't get computers or condensers, but how do you not understand that sponges to clean dishes are usually plastic and that all plastics leave micro plastics? What fundamental thing is missing for you?

And an overwhelming number of those involve the cops lying, the DA lying, or just straight up being held in jail for week, months or even years waiting for trials.
