@davidrevoy I should have done the same and stick to intel/amd. I think when I bought that laptop I still had nightmares of AMD issues back in the early days 😅😭

@davidrevoy @hadriscus Oh I’ve been on a Devuan 6 (Essentially Debian 13 without Systemd) since it was released. No issues so far except for when I stupidly decided to move to “testing”. 🫠

@davidrevoy I dare to say that the fact your article crashed your server due to the load of visitors it got you, means that there is more people experiencing the same kind of pains with the whole X11/Wayland drama than what most developers cared to imagine. I wish this could be used as evidence to make them conscious of the needs of the art community in Linux

@davidrevoy Im curious, did you ever considered other “stable” alternatives like OpenSuse Leap or AlmaLinux/Rocky Linux? For a while now (except for that stupid lapsus in which I decided to try Testing last week) I’ve been more and more inline with the idea that old software will give me less “surprises” And that smaller projects may provide a better “long term” investment in the end… (1/2)

@davidrevoy For example I stopped using KDE plasma, not because it was bad. It is actually pretty good. But every decision made in the project that goes against my own interests is harder to overcome/workaround than let’s say on something like DWM or OpenBox It does have a huge upfront investement though but I think it was worth it (2/2)

@davidrevoy I switched to Xlibre for those reasons. I get why you may not want to go there. So I understand. If I may say something about it, not with the aim of convincing you of changing your mind about it though; there has always been questionable people from all sides of the political spectrum involved in all parts of the Linux ecosystem. I made peace with that some time ago as I would end up not using Linux if I chose to avoid certain contributors. (1/2)

@davidrevoy You know, that’s one of the reasons I am not so happy about the whole Wayland situation. I don’t really care about the architectural choices except for the fact that I want things to work. But with Wayland I won’t be able to use the Desktop environment (or WM) I want. I would have to stick to Plasma if I want to have all the feature needed for my art process (not a bad DE by any means but not my choice) (1/2)

@davidrevoy I think that’s how I live my live now among many scripts. I created menus for most of them which are a shortcut away (using Dmenu) so I overcame that. I wouldn’t mind porting everything I’ve done to Wayland if I had the chance to use it. But it will just not work 🤷

@itsfoss The game is actually built using LibGDX. Being this a Java game, is it ok to call it native Linux ?I mean the target platform was literally the JVM. I’m just wondering what “native” here means. Thanks for the article I liked this game btw

@davidrevoy Oh that’s a good hardware you got there. I was wondering if the iris Xe graphics were good enough. I’ve been on Nvidia for so long that I am completely unaware of the performance of other gpu brands 🫠

@davidrevoy I kinda stopped sharing my art on Meta platforms. The communities there are even more toxic than in X in my opinion. Way more superficial and a lot more annoying I stick to X because I have a solid base of clients from there but I would definitely like to focus only on Mastodon and the fediverse. (1/2)
