       @EUCommission Personal Privacy is a key element of online life of free nations. There is a fundamental problem with claiming to protect children, when undermining the rights of privacy of all individuals.In Hungary, Orban makes big claims about how his policies are to protect children - then the abuse of children by officials in the ruling party reveal that the policies only had theoretical child safety, the real case was the opposite.

       @blogdiva Hungarians are celebrating! All my left-leaning friends are extremely happy. Magyar is not a lefty, but his policies are very far from the corrupt Right, and strongly in favour of protecting vulnerable children (unlike the Right). He has massive support.

       @EUCommission Make legally enforced clarity of finance sources for all lobbyists. Then you will know Meta is behind the push for everyone to be IDd (claiming to be for child protection). Online privacy is a key right in a democracy, do not remove it.Enforce controls on what big-tech can do with data on individuals, existence of unwanted targeted ads is proof of private data abuse.Outlaw efforts to make systems addictive.

       @EUCommission There is a difference between EU policy and practice in some countries. In Hungary, the Orban regime removed all academics who were opposed to his regime. Whole departments studying areas of social science were terminated. The Academy of Science was taken over.We are looking forwards to the very positive changes promised by Peter Magyar.

       @EUCommission Agreed that Meta are exploiting the young and addicting others. But privacy is a human right so the solution to the problem is not to impose an eradication of privacy for everyone! Age verification is removal of privacy. No age verification has resisted theft/leaks of data which makes the young and everyone more vulnerable.

       @EUCommission The UK will struggle to get environmental standards up to the level of even the most backward of EU states. UK waterways are largely almost classed as open sewers, based on current effluent data.

My partner’s papa of ~95, loved it and was so happy to buy some to share with a strange Englishman who also loved it.My Dad always told the joke of the pompous lady being offered tongue in a restaurant…”I couldn’t possibly eat something that has been in an animals mouth!        @Mojeek I usually use Google without AI (via a 3rd party). But I tried Mojeek and was happy with results. So following them now and will use them more to get better idea how well it works in comparison to other options.

       @mullvadnet The Orban regime in Hungary claimed to be protecting children, when requiring all books mentioning gays had to be sealed in plastic film to prevent opening before purchase, and only adults can buy. Multiple laws were passed, pretending to be for child protection. While in reality, orphans were 'traded' for the gratification of unpleasant old fascist men in the ruling party (it is alleged!!!).When claims are made that it is for child protection - look out for the evil intent behind!

       @dangillmor When an evil autocrat has enough power, it becomes a choice of resigning, or at least partially complying. In Hungary, journalists were amongst the first to go, most 'real journalists' resigned (and took on low-salary jobs, no choice). Those who caved in often had kids at school to feed: so cave in and broadcast propaganda, or have a very low-pay job?) Trying to 'stand-up' could mean problems, like wife/relatives made redundant. Too much power=corrruption.
