       @piggo @ajroach42 Maybe? I remember them disappearing in ‘90s. Last time I saw one being used was by a taxi driver for a cab ride in 2015 and I some of my cards still had embossed numbers.The US has always been behind on payment card tech but I imagine these would have been widely used everywhere before electronic processing terminals.

       Here’s one of my hardcopy terminals, a Panasonic KX-D4920. This unit supports data rates up to 1200 baud and features an RS232 port, a modular telephone jack, and an acoustic coupler on the back. Here it is calling NIST’s still-active computer time number.#terminal #modem
