Ill give you an example. i think it’s interesting that if somebody is half black and half ‘white’ we call them mixed. But if they are white and have european ancestry from all over the place we dont call that ‘mixed’ european or more accurately Colonial Mutts. Or maybe even ‘white romani’ in some cases. Instead, by contrast, we are taught to call people that lack a certain melanin concentration but still have some ‘half black’ or mixed.We are taught to refer to ourselves as ‘white’ and lament that in place of national or ethnic place. Whiteness is substantially less standardized than being ‘black’ or ‘asian’ (which are basically reclaimed elements from the subjugative taxonomy they are based on in any case).But if you want a real example of racialized language in action we all ought to stop doing is using ‘woke’ so ironically because the neo-confederate politics have essentially politically encoded this as the linguistically newer equivalent of the dixiecrat demonizing various social form as ‘negro instinct’. I also think ‘we will actually do white genocide for real, dont worry’ is probably an actually unhelpful bit that puts black folks in an awkward spot in general. Since we are online though this probably matters less but if somebody told me or my family ‘its ok the goyims will be extinguished one day’ id be pretty uncomfortable.

@tidest @fiore @Velveteen yea but this kind of stuff is more like saying ‘if you set aside what Cosby did his standup is still good’… the problem is with that context it really just.. isnt. Him and exurvia are in that same vein of them being horrific assholes sullying the ‘wholesome spiritedness’ of what they are doing. They used their endearing and positive worldviews as a shield to trample and ruin the lives of innocent people.Death of the author is the default opinion on most of fedi. This isnt twitter. People are actually kind of smart about stuff around here and prefer to operate with nuance in mind.

@fiore i like the idea of a ceo that knows how to utilize most ‘Leftist’ talking points and makes a big deal about trying not to be part if the problem (philanthropy, no political donations, family of 4, lessened wage gap diff compared to his peers)… but he still gets merced anyway because hes made at least 1 guys life a living hell.
