       A few days ago I tried to build some perls with 32 bit ints and 128 bit floats. Cue test failures. Today I tried again, and this time I read my notes from last time on how to do it, and it Just Works.Yay past me!(the #BigInt modules bundled with some versions of perl don't like that combination of data sizes; the solution is to ignore their test failures, install anyway, and then upgrade to the latest versions from the #CPAN)#perl #32bit #RidiculousComputing #ComputationalPerversions

       @yehor if it was traditional raid then that's the case, but is it with a two disk raidz1? You don't really have a data drive and a parity drive, you have two disks with checksums and can always tell which block is buggered because it will fail the checksum.

       @yehor yes, it is. An N disk RAID (whether traditional RAID or raidz) with P disks worth of parity/redundancy will have N-P disks worth of usable space. So with 2 disks, and 1 disk worth of redundancy, you've got 1 disk worth of space.

       I just used #copilot, which makes me a bad person. I used it to write an #ed script. Is that better or worse? ed(1) predates copilot by 64 years.        After having to embarrass myself earlier by asking one of our robot overlords to help me drive ed(1) I have ordered a copy of @mwl's #EdMastery book. Yes, the one he released as an #AprilFool. Have now read the #ebook version and ... it contains just what I needed and what CoPilot helped me with. I therefore recommend that you all buy it.@ed1conf
