       @azonenberg @ai6yr @UkeleleEric @sarae @msbellows One of the things the better hiking/ultralight hiking reviews used to do to test/review gear was get in shower with gear on. I don't have anything new gear wise (~decade old is newest) since health issues (allergies/breathing) pretty much eliminated hiking as practical activity for me, but IME goretex and equiv gets cold when wet because outer protective shell gets soaked after a bit. Having an outer full water barrier like cape/poncho can help

       @azonenberg @penguin42 Can I ask what you tend to use as the Guest OS for the VM?  More Debian?  I have been slowly working on learning Alpine to use for somewhat similar as Guest though I have a few different Host OS.

       @azonenberg @penguin42 My primary idea is to do similar with VMM on Chromebooks since they natively support VM now.  I think using VMM that way is actually a nested VM.  I had full MX XFCE working that way on Acer 514 Chromebook+ w i3-n305 8GB RAM and 500 GB NVME. Though also want to do the similar to you with Linux host. IMHO the Chromebook would be more secure but less privacy. Normally use Chromebook w Firefox or Links (text browser) on untrusted networks.

       @azonenberg @funkylab I am curious what fields use Oscilloscopes at level you build and test for? I am guessing radio & perhaps medical?  I've only ever used them for basic electronics back in the 90s so the performance of your stuff is just stunning.

       @azonenberg just curious as homelaber, does the workstation need to be idling 24/7 with your workload?  Or could you actually power it off for 6 to 12 hours a day?  If your workflow allows for powering it off on regular cycle or something, that is easy savings.

       @azonenberg Do on demand hot water heaters help?  I've thought passive warmed/heated water plus on demand was ideal if I am ever in situation to set it up
