@dougmerritt @skewray @AmenZwa And my favorite was Craig Finseth's whose MIT thesis in May 1980 was "Theory and Practice of Text Editors, or A Cookbook For An EMACS", His program (which ran on TOPS-10) was named "FINE" which stood for "FINE Is Not EMACS" 😃. I've still got my copy!

@prettygood So you're saying you come by it honestly. One of the more cathartic moments in the dot com crash was when the MBAs got all sad and moved to NYC to do finance because they had lost their ability to exploit retail investors with made up "internet technology" based companies. That was good. Sadly this round services much darker forces.

@azonenberg Don't suppose you have EMC probes do you? That could give you the polarization of the noise which might help identify the source. If you rotate the probe so it is pointed vertically, does the noise change? Next a piece of grounded foil (or plated PCB) above the probe? And then below the probe. The biggest culprits in my lab seem to be cheap USB chargers and/or LED bulbs.

@azonenberg As someone who ran operations for a datacenter there are two places you will likely find stock, one is a SuperMicro reseller (SuperMicro will have stock and you can get to it through the reseller), the other is an "IT Equipment Reseller", these guys buy stuff from datacenters being decommissioned and then resell it. @azonenberg What is the max op rate of the controller? Channel semantics being ops/sec dominate until packets get big enough and then bandwidth dominates.

@azonenberg At the company doing SDRs with the Zynq Ultrascale+ we had it do 68 byte packets as fast as it could on a 100G link to figure out the ops limit. (it was actually about twice as good as the 40G link but note the bandwidth was nominally 2.5x more. The customer was happy with that though so we didn't do any deep dive optimization.

@MLE_online Projecting people over the air waves? FM, UHF and VHF? radio and TV? Reports of interference to the FCC will get investigated, if somewhat slowly. Looking "through" Spectrum Analyzers? (they are opaque) or with? @azonenberg Yeah, I can see that. I'm thinking with a 3D printed cable management tool to attach to the shelf it would allow one to have several active setups in one's lab without consuming all the desk space!

@textfiles This is so cool! Thanks. Wondering if anyone has archived all the PCGamer CD-ROM images somewhere? One feature was they had the release kits for DirectX V2, V3, ... V9 as I recall. As well as interesting game demos.
