       @inexI bought a pair of Sony MDR-V500 a couple decades ago for DJing. I didn't take them out on many gigs, they literally broke that exact same way after only a few months (and no more than 3 gigs). I never abused them. Then I read online that this specific problem plagued all Sony headsets. That's when I stopped buying Sony headsets...Now I use an Audio Technica pair for DJing, and as a bonus, they have a better dynamic range (to my ears at least).
