@azonenberg I built this guy to measure current on 3 phases plus ground and also with a screw terminal to measure 3 phases of 480voltage with a isolated ADC. USB FS power and coms, STM32U5 MCU. 200A peak on CTs. The footprint is also compatible a with Rowgowski coil.Firmware is functional but needs some TLC. Maybe you’d be interested in helping if I sent you one. U5 has 14 bit ADCs. I have a basic static HTML page with Debian charting in Chrome with D3.JS.

@mntmn Back in the 90's I worked at Exabyte in Boulder, they used 8mm video tape decks from Sony to make backup drives. They shipped to IBM and Sun among others. At the time, the flagship product stored 8GB on a tape.I also remember that most people had a 386 while the bigwigs had 486 boxes and people would play Doom on the network.

@poleguy I've had very good experience with PCBgogo.com for PCB and assembly - over 10 years and dozens of boards, some HDI. They get whatever part from Mouser you want. The only vendor they seem to have an issue with is Coilcraft.

@poleguy Yeah, I would love to have PCBs done in the US, but it's like 4x cheaper and 5x faster and less hassle to do it in China.Get a quote from both, as the professors would say "for completeness". All you need are Gerbers and a BOM in CSV format.Just upload your gerbers and BOM to PCBgogo, and you will get an account rep emailing you the next weeknight for clarification or the final quote. I usually have them source all the parts unless it's a special engineering sample I have to ship them.It usually takes a day to get a final quote on PCB and assembly, and a couple of days to get the quote on parts. The always have good feedback and catch many of my errors and include an x-ray check for complex boards.

@azonenberg I think a heat pump HW heater would be a great idea. Maybe set it to a bit lower temp and add in point of use hot water heaters where needed (shower). If you were in Arizona you could add rooftop hot water heating, but probably wouldn't work so well in PNW.Do you have any options for installing a wind turbine? It's hard to get them high enough with all the trees up there.

@mntmn Yeah, I do that sometimes, I like eating cake, but then I don't like the waistline later.Maybe your chip is doing an OS context switch or something during that pause? Maybe you could put a scope probe on that interrupt handler and see when it fires in relation to when it's handled later in the code.

@mntmn Check out the build Alif Semi does for their chips - they have one or two 800MHz A32 MPUs, and 1 or 2 M55 MCUs with 5.5MB of RAM and 5MB of MRAM. @mntmn I think there might be incentive Apple and/or SpaceX/Tesla to start fabbing memory - not only for price, but mainly for reliable supply. For speed they could license from Micron. Even LP/DDR4 or something - think about all the processors in all the phones, cars, switches, ground terminals, and Starlink satellites - they all need 'basic' DDR (or LPDDR) - not cutting edge DDR or HBM.
