If you have all seven points by now, you should have figured out that you
get them for _starting_ to solve a problem.  You can have all seven and 
not have done anything right.

The vial merely gives you an extra (simpler) way of getting past the
Guardians, but you don't need it.  It is also the payoff of what was
the world's longest joke, if you were playing the three Zorks as they
came out.

If I remember rightly, you're doing something wrong about the chest.
