Dear Remnant Reader: My name is William Bischel and I am a sophomore at Miami University in Oxford, OH. Fortunately, all my life I have attended the Traditional Latin Mass. I attended a Traditional Catholic school for the majority of my education, homeschooled during my primary school years, and also went off for my freshman year of high school to a Traditional Catholic boys' boarding school in Illinois. For some of my grade school years, and all of my high school years, I was exposed to Catholicism and to the Sacraments as I attended Mass every school day.
Now, while attending a secular college, I do not have the opportunity to attend Mass nearly as often. I am funding my own college education and am using my earnings from my three part-time jobs to keep my education debts at a minimum.
The Pilgrimage to Chartres is something that would give me the opportunity to gain intense spiritual benefits and do penance in this quest to revitalize Catholicism.
I discovered this invaluable opportunity to be sponsored by kind patrons when I ordered a Remnant subscription for my mother as a Christmas gift last year.
Helping send students to France for this exciting and truly penitential pilgrimage is not only an enriching spiritual venture for us, but also a generous gift of the sponsor.
I have heard about what the journey is like from friends who have made the Pilgrimage to Chartres themselves.
Hearing their stories sparks a great desire to experience it for myself!
Everything about the Pilgrimage—from the tremendous spiritual rewards, to the camaraderie of the pilgrims from our country, to the penance of blisters and soreness—are all things I dream of experiencing.
I am the oldest of ten siblings, with one in heaven already. About five years ago my youngest sister at the time, died in an accident at the age of one year old. If I am fortunate enough to get the opportunity to make this Pilgrimage, I will be able to bring her with me. My prayers before, during and after the march will surely be joined with my sister, St. Monica’s, intercession for my potential sponsor. Please consider helping me continue to fight for the True Faith. For your kindness and consideration I will be deeply grateful.
Sincerely, William Bischel Harrison, OH
