Practical Social Democracy and the Future of the Left [1] [] Date: 2026-06 Join Mile End Institute to mark the launch of a momentous collection of essays about the future of social democracy in Britain. With populism on the march and a Labour government under pressure at Westminster, what is the future of ‘social democracy’? What can governments learn from this political tradition, and what would ‘practical social democracy’ look like in the twenty-first century? In this event, to mark the launch of Practical Social Democracy, edited by Magnus Feldmann, Jonas Hinnfors and Mark Wickham-Jones, we bring together politicians, theorists and practitioners to explore the past, present and future of a key political tradition. All are warmly welcome to attend. Tickets are free, but must be reserved in advance. This event will be held on Queen Mary's Mile End campus and the exact venue will be announced one week before the event.
