NASA’s Eyes software: May release notes

A new version of Eyes on the Earth was released on May 11, 2026, that has a share/embed feature prominently placed on the home screen. It also has a new SWOT video courtesy of our friends at SVS that shows changes in volume of the rivers of the world over the course of a year, and any variations from normal.

The new share button is highlighted by the yellow arrow.

The link is generated for easy copying, whether you choose the link or the embed option.

The SWOT movie can be played inside the window on the right, or expanded to full-screen.

Eyes on Exoplanets had a release on May 18, 2026, that included several changes to make the app more user-friendly, along with the usual assortment of bug fixes. In this image you can see the new “LEARN MORE+” button that replaced the circular “+” button that was there previously, as well as the new label for the Star Type in the settings menu, and also new “Did you know?” text replaced “What am I looking at?”

Some of the new changes to the user interface are visible in the image above.

Eyes on the Solar System had a minor update to make the “Follow” option in the View Options → Camera View → Follow be the default setting for any event bookmark throughout the app. Examples:

Osiris Rex Sample Acquisition

Psyche Spacecraft Mars Flyby
