[1] ['David Michigan', 'Thom Hartmann', 'Chitown Kev'] Date: 2026-10-13 A couple of weeks ago I noticed that my incoming text messages longer than a few lines were being summarized by what I assume is AI. I could still read the actual texts, but could also just read the summarized version if I wished—a tool someone thought would be helpful, but is not. I didn’t ask for this, and it makes me wonder: in order to summarize my incoming texts, AI must be reading them, right? And if it’s reading them, it’s also collecting them, correct? And if I sent a text that AI thought was nefarious would it flag it and report me? And of course how does AI define nefarious? I’ve always been aware that texts are forever and could be subpoenaed by law enforcement, but since I’ve never been a target of an investigation (too unimportant) I thought I was relatively safe to text what I wanted. But now I’ve become more careful about what I write and how it could be misinterpreted. Doesn’t AI reading, summarizing and storing text messages mean that information can now also be used by, or shared with, third parties without my or a court’s consent? Does anyone have thoughts on this?
