When taking sides turns problematic [1] ['Chitown Kev', 'Chloris Creator', 'Sabrina Haake'] Date: 2026-10-11 Yesterday, someone commented on an entry about Megyn Kelly’s comments *not my entry another thread* that she should be assaulted also… a couple of people liked that comment. I reported it. I don’t report stuff often this was my 4th time since I’ve been on DK. You cannot say you are against rape culture, rape, assault, stand with women and proudly comment that you’d wish a woman be rape because she made similarly awful comments on rape… this puts one squarely on her side and not ours. I’ve written more than once about how “good people” think that since the other side is the “enemy” they can say or do whatever they want and remain the “good people”… it doesn’t work like that. I’ve been called all manner of goody two shoes for it too. It’s just weird. How can I trust someone who thinks rape is some form of justice? It reminds me of the Platner incident where the first woman was dismissed because she was “republican” thus her allegations nullified. It has come to a point where people are abandoning (without realizing it) their own principles because they want to get down in the mud with the “enemy” to fight on their own level, thus anything goes and as I’ve said many times before this just makes it hard to distinguish friend from foe when both are covered in mud. These days, taking the right stance or standing on principle has become as reviled as being maga for certain folks on the left. Folks are being shamed for being “too good” or “too nice”, integrity and dignity are so “passé”… it is not the fact that the right is bathing in debauchery that makes me shudder… it is the fact that a lot of folks on the left don’t seem to mind joining them on the pretext that “we’re taking the fight to them” or “fight fire with fire” or “when they go low we go lower”…. This is what scares me. We don’t seem to be fighting for our principles anymore, we don’t’ seem to be fighting against wrong, we seem to be fighting “with” them. No one cares what they say or do as long as it hurts the other side. Hurting folks is never the answer. This fight won’t be won by fighting or hurting the other side, this fight will be won by opening people’s minds to reason. Everyone being cruel and vindictive will never produce the kind of society that cares for people more than it cares for anything else.
