Friday Night Beer Blog [1] ['Thom Hartmann', 'Barley Wine', 'Bill In Portland Maine'] Date: 2026-10-09 Hi beer fans, happy Friday! Music: Continuing our countdown of Barstool Mountain’s Top 100 Drinking Songs: #39 — Whiskey You’re the Devil – Traditional/Clancy Brothers Oh, whisky you’re the devil You’re leading me astray This is an old Irish song that probably originated before 1800 and was made famous by the Clancy Brothers in the 1950s. This next one is kind of a drinking song, it’s about getting drunk but in a coded way. The leader of my German band says this was the #1 new song at Oktoberfest last year, and he transcribed it for us to play. It starts (and ends) with a weird and possibly drunk question “if I were a piece of furniture”. If I were a piece of furniture I’d be a lamp from the ’70s I turn on, I blow my fuse, I draw 8000 Amps I have a loose connection Today’s lesson in completely useless German: War Ich ein Mobelstuck Tonight’s beer is Azacca single hop hazy IPA from Discretion Brewing, Santa Cruz CA. 7.2% abv, 30 IBUs. The label says I should taste pineapple, mango, papaya, pear, and citrus; my palate isn’t good enough to separate out all of those. It’s pretty tasty but I only have one anyway. There are other beers in the fridge but I’ll probably have a cocktail while I watch the Valkyries. What are you drinking? Anyone brewing?
