IT WASTHE LEOPARD WHO ATE MY FACE [1] ['Chloris Creator', 'Major Kong', 'Egberto Willies', 'Greg Dworkin', 'The Marti'] Date: 2026-10-05 The Medicaid cuts that were imposed this week will cut an estimated 281,000 legal immigrants off from healthcare, including stroke victims and the infirm. It is reported that even Afghan interpreters who literally risked their lives and the lives of their families to help the American cause will now have to scramble to help the sick among them. Of course, a lot of these people (even the ones supposedly safe waiting their turn in line) are hiding from the leopard that has come to eat their faces. Franchesca Ramsey expanded and adapted the song above from Adrian Bott’s 2015 social media post, which read, “I never thought the leopards would eat my face, sobs woman who voted for the Leopards Eating People’s Faces Party.” The first and most prominent victims so far of the teeth of the leopard have been the Hispanic community. The near-record numbers in the increase and decline of Hispanics and Latinos voting for candidate now-President Trump have marked his singular approach to immigration. After Trump promised that the worst of the worst would be swooped up and banished, they ignored former Vice President Kamala Harris, who warned of troops on the streets. At an Erie, Pennsylvania rally during her campaign, responding to Trump’s comments about the “enemy within” and a possible need for the military, she told the crowd, “He considers anyone who doesn’t support him or who will not bend to his will an enemy of our country,” Harris said, showing a video clip at an Erie arena. “This is among the reasons I believe so strongly that a second Trump term would be a huge risk for America, and dangerous,” she concluded. From the beginning of the 2025 fiscal year through April of 2026, 28 people have died in ICE custody, tying the 2004 record for the entire year. Currently, the number is estimated—because government accountability is sketchy—at either 57 or 58. The most prominent deaths on the streets of our city have been Alex Pretti and Renée Nicole Macklin Good. Unfortunately, and probably because they are white, they have overshadowed the deaths of hardworking people like Lorenzo Salgado Araujo in Houston, or Johan Sebastián Durán Guerrero, Jesús Manuel Arenas-Silva, and Juan Jairo Coronilla Durán, who have died from gunshot wounds, lack of medical care, being chased into oncoming traffic, and being hit by a truck. People who believed that America was a haven from the violence they were trying to escape and a shining city on the hill have found that it is becoming a hypocritical hovel dimmed by the shadows of hate. So, while the new cuts in Medicaid aimed at legal immigrants take hold, people like Teresita Morales, who told CNN that her legal immigrant partner lost his coverage to the nursing facility caring for him after a debilitating stroke. He, like Araujo, Guerrero, Arena-Silva, Durán Pretti, and Good, is not the worst of the worst. They were hard-working people with families who counted on the American dream not for a handout but for a chance. That chance was cut short through choice, not by accident.
