So AI might kill us all. AI just better get in the ******* queue: A rant. [1]

So the Techbros have raised another alarm over dangers of their own making.

So fucking what. Am I to set my hair on fire?

Capitalism has indebted us to the point that we can no longer afford to react.

Climate Crisis Deniers have hindered us and, in fact, harmed us.

After all, we [the fossil fuel-burning industrialized countries] started this.

Some think AI will save us? What, before or after it kills us?

We cannot afford to act, say many of our politicians, pushing the can down the road to 2050+. At the earliest.

So we do not count the deaths and debts accrued until then?

The current midterm election seems all about the cost of gas?

Prices never return to what they were pre-war. Never mind the price gouging.

As for the techbros, if they are so worried, why not just stop? Oh, I forgot: they have made their bed, and the rest of us will pay for it one way or another. Socialism for the rich only, I forgot. They are busy buying places in luxury survival bunkers, leaving the rest of us to clean up. I hope their bunkers are run by AI.

Ah, the magical world of profits above all; well fuck that. Somebody is going to pick up the tab. I know, really I do- us.

I know science and facts no longer matter [if ever]; only belief counts.

There is always some asshole that just wants to watch the world burn.

Right now, we seem to have an extraordinary surplus of sociopaths.

I’m rapidly approaching my 3000th diary [in 18 years]; I think that will be enough.

I’ll put my inner Cassandra back in her box.
