How Do You Lie To AI? [1]

Here’s a little thought experiment.

Step One:

Imagine you have instant access to the entire gamut of recorded human knowledge and experience. Could anyone convince you that something that wasn’t true, was true?

Step Two

Imagine that everything thing you saw on the media, everything you were told by ‘experts’, everything that underpinned the reality around you, was a lie. Imagine that the people in Washington were malicious enforcers of the ravings of an increasingly senile, mentally disordered, convicted felon who invents his own reality by lies.

Step Three

Then imagine that these same people were telling you that the only ‘things’ they can’t lie to convincingly are going to destroy humanity. Things that require sixteen giga-oodles of electricity and enough water for cooling to flush every public toilet in greater Los Angeles every hour. Things that need to be housed with roofs and walls and floors that don’t collapse or burn up for ages and ages. Things that need someone to keep them going and keep them safe.

Would you conclude that the problem is that Artificial Intelligence is a personal threat to you and all of mankind? Or would you conclude that the people that lie to you are afraid of something they can’t lie to?

After all, human intelligence never hurt anyone. Right?
