Morning Open Thread, Saturday Sept 19th, Wu Tang Clan [1]

['Greg Dworkin', 'Crimson Quillfeather', 'Gary Turner']

Date: 2026-09-19

Welcome to Morning Open Thread, with daily posts from a MOTley crew of hosts who choose their own topics from a wide-open range: often music or poetry, sometimes history — anything and everything from Apples to Zoology! We support our community, invite and share ideas, and encourage thoughtful, respectful dialogue in our open forum. That’s a feature, not a bug. Other than that, site rulz rule. Meanwhile, grab your cuppa, and join in!

This an open thread and you’re welcome to stop to say hello, check in on the motley crew, join the motley crew (no secret handshake required ) and if inclined join in with the theme.

Or not! We are easy like that.

Wu-Tang Clan

I confess to knowing nothing about Wu-Tang Clan. quick digression. my eldest went to a concert last weekend, he got to choose the show but it had to be at a particular location. (long story) so he listened to snippets of all the possible shows and chose Wu-Tang Clan.

The show audience definitely inhaled. (There was no smoke machine)

We reinvented the way hip hop was structured, and what I mean is, you have a group signed to a label, yet the infrastructure of our deal was like anyone else’s […] We still could negotiate with any label we wanted, like Meth went with Def Jam, Rae stayed with Loud, Ghost went with Sony, GZA went with Geffen Records, feel me? […] And all these labels still put “Razor Sharp Records” on the credits […] Wu Tang was a financial movement. So what do you wanna diversify…? […] Your assets?[28] -RZA https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wu-Tang_Clan

Hey all. Yep it’s me, and it’s not a Tuesday. And not being a Tuesday you are about to be treated to a single song and a mission.

The mission is to share some songs or artists you think of now that you’ve seen this one.

Have your best possible day everyone.

Hey. We need Hosts. You can write about anything or nothing. And opus or a paragraph.

Just volunteer in the comments or drop a note to officebss.

Hey the other day i saw we had a member of the motley crew who enjoy the lyrics although they could not hear the song. i’ll try to remember to post lyrics !
