This instinct to mistrust plain speaking folks [1] ['Chitown Kev', 'Belinda Ridgewood', 'Sabrina Haake', 'Bill In Portland Maine'] Date: 2026-09-10 I don’t know how many times in my life (60 next month) I’ve heard people claim they like plain speaking folks, directness, frankness, and yet…. They don’t. People even claim that chump won his fan base with plain speaking, but chump doesn’t actually do plain speaking which implies truth, chump just lies. I’ve found that folks actually mistrust plain speaking, just like the mistrust facts. The only place I’ve ever known where plain speaking was tolerated and encouraged even was in Black communities. In most other communities being “polite” and “nice” and “respectful” is placed above the truth and thus above plain speaking. A lot of the strife I get, is because people think “there must be something more behind her words” I’m not making this up, I’ve actually been told this by many a person. I’m an anomaly in an anomaly, not only raised in the plain speaking Black community of the US, but the other have of the time raised in the even more straight talking of my other country Haiti. Where nobody cares if you’re polite or nice, they care if you tell the truth in plain and simple terms. Creole is a language devoid of subtleties. I may write in French and English, but my brain is wired in creole. It’s one of the reasons, also that Black folks for the most part don’t do the “cutting off ties” with family members because we can and do speak our minds to them, they know where we stand on their bullshit takes, they know we disapprove, hell we’ll bop them over the head on them, we will keep straight talking them until they come to their senses. It takes something really devastating for us to disown family. And before folks come on here to tell me but but but maga this maga that, racism etc… is more than a difference of opinions, WE KNOW. But we also know that your family member didn’t suddenly become racists, transphobic, homophobic, sexists etc… they were that before chump, it’s just now their choices have affected you personally. Amiright? Hmm think about it that’s why some of you do it, others do it for show so they can say silly stuff like “I cut off my family for YOU!” no dears you cut off your family for clout and to pad your résumé ain’t no one ever asked you to cut off your family. And some of you do it because of societal pressure, you think “it’s the right thing to do”… none of these are valid reasons to cut off your family members. Let the backlash begin. Plain speaking and Straight talks are often viewed outside of their communities as rude, even when no rudeness can be found, it’s the tone or the fact that the truth is delivered to plainly, too easily, I don’t know because when asked “what was rude about it?” they can’t point to anything inside the words, so they defer to tone even in the written form. Black folks have been called of kinds of names on various social platforms for being honest and direct, by people who say they value honesty and truth, the disconnect is something that should be studied by psychologists or sociologists, I think. You don’t trust straight talk for the same reason maga doesn’t like true history… it makes you uncomfortable. Today I’m letting it all out. One exception is when people start calling straight talkers names… because usually straight talking is accepted as long as one is talking about someone or something that is disliked by the listeners/readers, it is mainly when that talk is directed towards them, their issues, the people they like, that suddenly straight talk becomes problematic and rude. Plain speaking isn’t rude, rude is cutting in line, rude is interrupting someone who is speaking, rude is loudly speaking in a library, rude is pushing someone out of your way, rude is harassing a service employee, rude is about a behavior that disturbs people around you, if straight talk disturbs you, if the truth disturbs you, you got bigger problems them straight talk. Straight talk is about unvarnished truth, it’s about speaking without all the bells and whistles that gives people a way out to say “ohh I misunderstood” “I didn’t get that” “I misread” “I didn’t understand” “I thought you meant x y or z”… it’s cutting off potential excuses at the root. It’s about calling out friends as much if not more than strangers and acquaintances. Straight talk isn’t rude it’s just not sugarcoated to make certain folks “comfortable” and make the truth “easy to swallow” and of course dismiss. There’s no “what did you mean by that” or “reading between the lines” there are no lines. And certain people find that so uncomfortable that they now invent stuff to get mad at or offended by. They will call one out on their tone, their punctuation, their grammar, their vernacular and if all that fails, they will call a straight talker a liar and a grift, because when all is said and done the truth of certain things is hard to swallow especially when it’s about the very people complaining about the truth. One famous line from a movie I’ve never seen by one of my favorite actors Mr. Jack Nickolson… “You can’t handle the truth!” and it’s very clear in this era of conspiracy theories, denial of science, rejection of facts…. That truer words have never been spoken. Cause it shakes up your settled thinking? You claim to want the whole truth And nothing but the truth But when the truth comes out Your anger comes tumbling out Truth is only what you want When you’re not the recipient Otherwise like most people You want to be coddled Have your biases verified Your inner monologue certified You like the polite talks Those that don’t make you balk You like them words to be respectable That’s about all the truth you can handle So you can read between the lines And choose which ones are fine Straight talk is unrefined No words between the lines It sets your teeth on edge Tugs at your privilege The truth is unvarnished Not on your list called wish Truth is only what you want When you’re not the recipient Otherwise like most people You want to be coddled Have your biases verified Your inner monologue certified Going to add this little off topic sort of rant to this. It is quite interesting to see the very same folks who told people to withhold their vote, the same ones who championed the undecided movement, who wanted to punish Kamala, those very same voices responsible for chumps win and the continuing terror in Gaza, today target a Black man as the fall guy for Gaza because AIPAC. They all can kiss my Black ass. Because I well remember the demonstrations of Free Palestine which were often held in front of Black officials houses / places of residence. Neither Kamala or Jeffries are responsible for what is going on in Gaza. Blame oct 7th, blame Nethanyahu, blame Hamas, but stop the ef blaming Black people for Gaza, we all including Kamala and Jeffries told you this would happen. So if you want someone to blame look into your mirrors. And I am talking about those who pushed those talking points, so not “everyone”.
