Our Organizers, One Conversation at a Time [1] ['Chitown Kev', 'Belinda Ridgewood', 'Sabrina Haake'] Date: 2026-09-10 How a Native-led field team is reaching thousands of voters across Arizona’s tribal nations — and why we need help to keep it going through Election Day. Chair Since late May, our team of field organizers has been showing up. Not for a single event, not for a photo op — showing up, week after week, across eight tribal nations in Arizona, at more than 150 distinct field events. This isn’t a program that parachutes in around Election Day. It’s a sustained, relationship-based presence, built and staffed almost entirely by Native organizers working in their own communities — talking with neighbors, relatives, and elders about why their vote and their voice matter. The numbers behind the doors From June to September — in about ten weeks — our team has logged nearly 5,000 direct voter contacts through in-person conversations and doors knocked. That’s not a metric pulled from a spreadsheet in Phoenix. That’s thousands of individual moments: a conversation on a porch, a conversation in a parking lot after a chapter meeting, a conversation that starts with “how’s your family doing” before it ever gets to a ballot. And we’re not slowing down. We’re already booked out through mid-October. This is just the beginning of what this team can do between now and Election Day. Why this work looks different Most field programs are built to scale fast and disappear fast. Ours is built to last. Our organizers aren’t outside consultants flown in for six weeks — they’re community members organizing their own communities, which means the trust was already there before we ever knocked on a door. That trust is why our team has been able to turn up thousands of direct voter contacts and hundreds of new or updated registrations — on a volunteer-and-shoestring budget. We’ve stretched every dollar as far as it can go. But stretching a budget only gets you so far, and our organizers deserve to be paid for the work they’re doing every single day. What we need now We’re doing this work one conversation at a time, and it’s working. Now we need the resources to sustain our current pace — to pay for supplies, gas, materials, and staff time all the way through Election Day. Will you help power our organizers through to Election Day? [[DONATE NOW]] Every dollar keeps a conversation going. Every conversation keeps our communities connected to the ballot box. That’s the whole model — and it only works if it can keep going.
