There is reason to suppose that conventional polling doesn’t tell the complete story. Here are two accounts of the entire Senate contest that make that point, and on the whole agree with my own previous analysis that we have nine potential flips. The biggest difference is that I have great faith in the ability of Rs in general and Trump in particular to wreck their own chances, as above. The damage that the iDJiT’s trade war with Canada will do to the auto industry in Michigan is but one such factor. The NEW 2026 Senate Map Based On MASSIVE NEW Polls! What If The Blue Wave Actually Happens In 2026? Harry Enten opens this video by saying that prediction markets give Democrats a 73% chance to sweep both the House and the Senate in November. That’s not high enough for comfort, but it is a good starting point for discussing what we still need to do. So let’s talk today about what to do in Michigan, and leave the other Senate races to take their turns in coming weeks. In Michigan, Rep. Haley Stevens has been defending Abdul El-Sayed and campaigning for him after he defeated her in the state’s Democratic Senate primary. “I am going to be a part of stopping MAGA and Trump,” Stevens said of her decision to quickly rally behind El-Sayed’s campaign in his effort against Republican nominee Mike Rogers. So has Mallory McMorrow, another Michigan Democrat who had sought the Senate nomination but dropped out ahead of the primary when it became clear she would not be the nominee. “I ran because I wanted to beat Mike Rogers, and that commitment remains as true today as it was when I was still in the race, and we’re all locked in to do exactly that,” McMorrow said of her decision to get behind El-Sayed. There is one glaring exception to this unified front, however. In Texas, Democratic Rep. Jasmine Crockett has been less than helpful to James Talarico, who defeated her to become the Democratic nominee for Senate in Texas. Though Crockett endorsed Talarico after her loss, she has not lifted a finger to help him since, instead making comments that make her look bitter and jealous. 190 242 Friday, August 21, 2026 at 3:30 PM CDT by Chitown Kev Community We begin today with Amanda Marcotte of Salon and a Sphinx-like retropresidential riddle named Natalie Harp. “Ever since Swan and Haberman, in their recent book “Regime Change,” revealed the humiliating details of Harp’s job as what amounts to Trump’s full-time babysitter, speculation has run rampant about the nature of the president’s relationship with her. Jim Lee of Susquehanna Polling and Research shows the toplines of their latest polling that Abdul El-Sayed has a 7-point lead over Mike Rogers in the race for Michigan’s U.S. Senate seat. “Despite public media reports that El-Sayed is facing a divided Democratic electorate after a bruising and closely contested August 4th primary, he leads Rogers 91%-0% with self-identified Democrats and leads Rogers 46%-24% with Independents and unaffiliated voters. [Rogers leads El-Sayed 90%-2% with Republicans.] Another strong indication the Democrat base has quickly rallied around El-Sayed is that he not only leads Rogers 92%-0% with Democrats who identify with the progressive wing of the Democrat party (which make up 47% of all Democrats sampled), but El-Sayed also leads Rogers handily among Democrats who do not (89%-0%). 257 235 Thursday, August 20, 2026 at 6:07 AM CDT Dr. El Sayed on Dr. El Sayed Abdul El-Sayed @abdulelsayed.bsky.social 59.5K followers 52 following 1.9K posts Public servant running for U.S. Senate because it shouldn’t be THIS hard to get by.
