Hakeem??!! [1]

Daily Beast is reporting an incognito-meeto between Hakeem Jeffries and Trump outlaw-in-law, Jared Kushner. We can only speculate what species of arrant weaselry these two are dreaming up in some secret undisclosed location. The man who might become Speaker of the House, should the Democratic Party triumph in November, certainly understands that he will be challenged by the party’s left wing, by the progressive wing, by DSA, or any combination/coalition thereof. At least half the party is sick of the Jeffries-Schumer faction, and so Hakeem may just be hedging his bets.

This looks like something really dark. I’ll be the first to apologize if I’m off about this, but it looks like a deal to screw the left of the Democratic Party, shore up its corporate wing, save AIPAC, and let Donald Trump off the hook. Consider the fact that the entire Congress gets to vote for the speaker. And if Jeffries comes up short in the vote, Republican members can also support him. If their votes put him over the top and beat the left-progressive candidate of the Democratic Party, it will only happen because they had earlier struck a deal with Jeffries. What would that deal possibly contain? Continued support for Israeli genocide? Some Trojan Horse corporate-friendly bill? Not allowing a Trump impeachment resolution to come to the floor?

I assume that a prospective deal could not be hidden from the Democratic members, and Jeffries might well be read the riot act by his own party. But based on the past behavior of “Democrats” like Joe Manchin, Kyrsten Sinema, and Farcical John Fetterman, there may not be much power to push back–which itself is a huge problem in the party, something I’ve written about before and will continue to push.

Of course it would be sold as a bi-partisan defeat of the Socialistas, but in reality it would be the right wing of the Democratic Party joining the fascist project. I can only echo the plaintive cries of young baseball fans during the 1919 Black Sox Scandal. “Say it ain’t so, Hakeem!”
