Please Help Me Fix My Computer (GoFundMe Link Inside) [1]

Hello all!

To get straight to the point, here is the link to my Go Fund Me fundraiser. But hang out for a minute, and let me tell you all about it.

I’ve been lurking since the DailyKOS site redesign, under the name of Redstate Refugee. I don’t post very much, but I enjoy reading everyone else’s entries, and occasionally comment.

For those of you with really long memories, my family and I were able to move to Northern California in large part thanks to the generosity of the Daily KOS readers, and we’ve been living there happily ever since (it was about two and a half years ago.) We have a busy household consisting of:

– 5 Adults

– 1 Teenager

– 4 Cats

– 2 Dogs

At the moment, the entire thing runs off of my two jobs. They are both work from home positions and I am deeply grateful to be employed in today’s economy. Unfortunately, disaster has struck and the computer has died. The CPU and motherboard must both be replaced, to the tune of $1500.

I have a temporary loaner unit (which is how I am able to post a diary at all) but I need to get my own computer back, and I have no shot at raising so much by myself. There are some other expenses as well, (a doctor’s appointment I need, and a water heater to replace our dying circa-1970’s unit.) All told, I am trying to raise $5000 for computer, doctor, meds, and plumbing combined – but the fire is the computer. That first $1500 will be the difference between sink or swim.

I know things are tight for everyone right now, and I would like to thank everybody in advance for your help. If you cannot donate, if you could share the link to the GoFundMe, it would be extremely helpful (and free!)
