WI RWNJ Tom Tiffany [1] ['Blue Choir Singer', 'Greg Dworkin', 'Mother Mags', 'Chloris Creator'] Date: 2026-08-14 GOP U.S. Representative Tom Tiffany – A RWNJ (Right Wing Nut Job) Running for Governor of Wisconsin in November 2026 August 13, 2026 Well, as most of us who pay attention to U.S. politics know, the Wisconsin primary elections in both parties were held on August 11, 2026. In a major upset, according to the polling data, Democrat David Crowley, a moderate Milwaukee County executive, defeated Democratic Socialist Francesca Hong by the nail biting tally of .48 percent (39.81%-39.33%). https://www.nytimes.com Crowley will face GOP U.S. Representative Tom Tiffany from the Badger State’s 7th Congressional District (CD) in the November 2026 WI gubernatorial race. Third-term Representative Tiffany (68) won his primary race with token opposition, clobbering his opponent by a 90% margin (95%-5%). https://www.nytimes.com African American David Crowley (40) is used to facing and beating formidable odds in his life. Milwaukee, WI native Crowley grew up in poverty in the poorest ZIP code in WI on Milwaukee’s north side. Both his parents struggled with drug abuse and mental health issues and his family was evicted from their homes three times, the first time when Crowley was 10. His parents later divorced. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Crowley_https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Crowley_, https://pbswisconsin.org/news-item/crowleys-victory-sets-up-a-general-election-match-with-tiffany-in-wisconsins-2026-race-for-governor/ Crowley went on to receive a BS from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. He became interested in issues of policing and local government. He won election to the WI State Assembly in 2016 at age 30 and served over three years before being elected as Milwaukee County Executive. In 2023, Crowley showed an ability to work closely with the WI GOP-controlled legislature to pass a bipartisan deal that sent more state aid to Milwaukee and local communities. https://pbswisconsin.org/news-item/crowleys-victory-sets-up-a-general-election-match-with-tiffany-in-wisconsins-2026-race-for-governor/, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Crowley_ Crowley launched his bid for governor in September 2025. He dropped out of the race on July 8, 2026, saying he felt he had no chance to win. However, on July 18, he rejoined the race again. With the backing of very popular Democratic Governor Tony Evers who campaigned across the state with him, Crowley made the case that he was the better matchup against GOPer Tiffany. Crowley became the first Black person to win a major party nomination for WI governor and should he beat Tiffany, he will become WI’s first Black Governor and just the fourth U.S. elected Black governor.https://pbswisconsin.org/news-item/crowleys-victory-sets-up-a-general-election-match-with-tiffany-in-wisconsins-2026-race-for-governor/ And now, let’s meet the fellow whom Crowley will be facing in the November 2026 gubernatorial WI general election, three-term GOP U.S. Representative Tom Tiffany. Wabasha, Minnesota native Tiffany grew up on a dairy farm near Elmwood, Wisconsin. He earned a 1980 B.S. degree in agricultural science from the University of Wisconsin, River Falls. Tiffany owned a WI river cruise company and managed petroleum distribution for a local oil company. From 2009-2013, he served as the town supervisor of Little Rice, WI. He served in the WI State Legislature from 2011-2020. He served in the WI Assembly from 2011-2013 and in the WI Senate from 2013-2020. When GOP U.S. Rep. Sean Duffy resigned from his 7th Congressional District seat because of medical problems that his wife was expecting with their ninth child, Tiffany ran in the primary for this seat. https://thealmanacofamericanpolitics.com, 2026, National Journal, 2024, pp. 1936-1937. The Badger 7th has the town of Wausau in it and its 21 counties stretch more than 200 miles from Lake Superior in the north to part of Monroe County, adjoining La Crosse. This lumberjack populist area is ancestrally Republican and used to favor the progressivism of the LaFollette reformers, but not anymore. Although Obama carried the 7th by 8 points in 2008, this region is currently hard-right Trumpist GOP. Donald won here by 20 points in 2016, his best margin in the state, and in 2024 won by 22 points, 60%-38%. https://thealmanacofamericanpolitics.com, 2026, National Journal , 2024, p. 1938 With the backing of the extremist House Freedom Caucus, the far-right Club for Growth, hard-line conservative former GOP Governor Scott Walker, and with heavy financial backing, Tiffany clobbered his GOP primary rival by 14 points and took 57% of the vote in the 2020 special election against a Native American Democratic member of the ACLU. In the November 2020 general election, he won handily with 61% of the vote and has coasted to re-election ever since with 61% in 2020, 62% in 2022, and a 64%-36% win in 2024, his best margin yet.https://thealmanacofamericanpolitics.com, 2026, National Journal, 2024, pp. 1936-1937 And let’s now focus on Tiffany’s House record. In 2023, Rep. Tiffany “hit a triple”– three zero scores from the liberal Americans for Democratic Action (ADA), a “goose egg” from labor’s AFL-CIO, and another zero from the League of Conservation Voters, LCV. https://thealmanacofamericanpolitics.com, 2026, National Journal, 2024, p. 1936. There is more. He is a proud member of the Freedom Caucus, a small but very influential group of House members who have pushed the GOP agenda even further to the right. Rep. Tiffany is a strong supporter of gun rights. He is known for his anti-tax stand. He additionally opposes taxpayer money for abortions. https://nytimes.com/2026/08/11/us/politics/tom-tiffany-wisconsin-governor-candidate.html Tiffany co-sponsored legislation that would have made it a federal crime for doctors to perform abortions after six weeks gestation, when many women still don’t know that they are pregnant. In 2022, he voted against a bill that would have protected the right to travel across state lines for an abortion. In 2023, he signed on to a Republican Study Committee budget, the biggest GOP bloc in the House, that would have endorsed the Life at Conception Act. That legislation would have given personhood rights to embryos and fetuses and would have devastating consequences for people who are pregnant or using in vitro fertilization. https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2026/8/10/800082423/elections/gop-ghoul-gift-to-wisconsin-democrats/ Should Tiffany win the gubernatorial election, he will be able to sign legislation that limits abortion access in WI. Tiffany realized that his abortion record was not in line with that of WI mainstream voters. He, therefore, scrubbed his hard-line anti-abortion stance. However, his voting record in the House on this key issue is still available and can’t be erased. https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2026/8/10/800082423/elections/gop-ghoul-gift-to-wisconsin-democrats/ Tiffany’s far-far right “I love Trump” record contains even more damaging information. He called Trump’s awful tariffs that have wreaked havoc on the economy, contributed to increasing inflation, and made GOP voters angry, “Very strategic, very targeted and are meant to benefit the American people.” (LOL). https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2026/8/10/800082423/elections/gop-ghoul-gift-to-wisconsin-democrats/ Tiffany was, also one of 14 House GOPers to vote against the Juneteenth federal holiday that celebrates the day, June 19, 1865, when all African Americans were finally told that they had been freed. He attacked the Juneteenth holiday as a Democratic attempt to “balkanize our country and fuel separatism by creating a race-base ‘Independence Day.’”https://www.nytimes.com/2026/08/11/us/politics/tom-tiffinay-wisconsin-governor-candidate.html This race in swingy swingy WI which has voted for Trump twice will still be, IMHO, quite close. Tiffany has Demagogue/Dictator Donald’s endorsement. Tiffany also enjoys wide name recognition for his long career in the WI state legislature. No other major GOPer challenged him in his gubernatorial primary. Tiffany will do his best to falsely tar moderate Democrat Crowley as a far out “leftist radical.” Yes, Rep. Tiffany’s record quite clearly indicates that he is a proud RWNJ (Right Wing Nut Job). Democrats in WI must keep hammering his various out-of-the Badger State mainstream stands and votes in just the short time between now and November, so that most voters become acquainted with the harm he could do should he win this major election in November 2026. Most important, of course, is that Democrats and moderates, in the state that once led the nation in pushing progressive ideas, vote in droves plus this November 2026 to elect moderate David Crowley. They must keep RWNJ Tiffany out of the Badger State’s Governor’s mansion to preserve WI as a bastion of progressive democracy.
