(C) Daily Kos This story was originally published by Daily Kos and is unaltered. . . . . . . . . . . It’s not just Mainstream Media [1] ['Chitown Kev', 'Belinda Ridgewood', 'Meteor Blades'] Date: 2026-08-04 It’s most of the places and people where one gets their information, most of them have their agenda. Thus, most of the opinions one relies on for news are biased and twisted to suit the side of whichever commentator is feeding it to the public. One may prefer this broadcaster over this one because they are more aligned with their own beliefs and policies but in the end, it’s still just a podcaster or commentator and they will feed their audience what they feel will sway them to their sides. It would be prudent to pay attention to where anger comes from, because a lot of the infighting seen online can be traced back to where information starts flowing, on every side. The left and by that I mean those who don’t vote republican are eating themselves while ratings and clicks are going up. Most of them manipulate the news, I would say all of them but I don’t watch all of them. No one is pro-hamas, no one is pro-genocide, speaking against the war doesn’t make one antisemite, everyone wants free or better health care, everyone wants wages raised, everyone wants affordable housing, no one is pro Hezbollah, no one is pro nuclear weapons, most folks (and I am talking about those again who are not republicans) are fighting over semantics and slogans. No one needs to make our side lose, we’re doing that just by ourselves. We did it in 2024 and we’re aiming to do it again in 2026 for the midterms, if we don’t grow the fuck up. You can watch the bait you can support your podcasters you don’t have to take the bait. Sometimes it feels like the level of vitriol online is being fed by the very same information networks we rely on for news, because our fights keep them in clicks and subscribers, it’s entertaining. I always have some kind of information channel open as I work, what I’ve noticed is that the talking points, the jabs, seem to come first from them and then spill over to the discourse online and even sometime onto the off line world. That is not to say all your information sources are bad or that you should drop them, but it does mean that everyone should do their best to remember information is one thing, opinions quite another. Please look for full clips of whatever they show you or just longer ones. Listen to opinions but don’t take them at face value. We have enough problems to deal with without all this infighting.
