Obama does Turek a solid [1] ['Chitown Kev', 'Belinda Ridgewood'] Date: 2026-07-30 Former President Obama does not endorse often (only three in 2026), and when he does it is for candidates who share his vision and where his endorsement could prove critical. Iowa Senate candidate Josh Turek just received Obama’s endorsement in a memorable basketball game video. In the video, Obama and Turek play a modified game of “horse” called “Iowa.” Obama begins the game by stating “I know a little something about winning Iowa.” No national Democratic presidential candidate has won Iowa since Obama did so in 2012. The state has a special place in his heart for that reason. Turek has proven himself to be an adept campaigner and repeat winner at the state level. Of Obama’s basketball game, Turek notes: “He’s a good shooter. We’re both lefties as well.” Recent polling by Fox News and the New York Times show a Turek with a 2-4% lead over Ashley Hinson, his opponent in the race. Both leads are within the margin of error. Hinson responded to Obama’s endorsement by calling it “another liberal endorsement.” [END] --- [1] Url: https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2026/7/30/800077147/community/obama-does-turek-a-solid/ Published and (C) by Daily Kos Content appears here under this condition or license: Site content may be used for any purpose without permission unless otherwise specified. via Magical.Fish Gopher News Feeds: gopher://magical.fish/1/feeds/news/dailykos/
