[1] ['Greg Dworkin', 'Bill In Portland Maine', 'Winter Rabbit'] Date: 2026-07-27 Donald Trump’s political action committee—MAGA Inc.—has now accumulated over $400 million in assets, according to recent Federal Election Commission filings. According to the Brennan Center for Social Justice, over 95% of these contributions come from high-net-worth individuals and corporations each contributing $1million or more. The leadership of MAGA Inc. has stated that the money raised will be spent to boost Republican candidates for the House and Senate in the November election. If so, such a large slush fund could have made a dramatic difference in close races across the country. Candidates running in heavily contested districts and states would certainly welcome the cash infusion the superfund could provide. But where’s the money? With just over a hundred days remaining until the Midterm election—and many candidates selected—MAGA Inc. has yet to lay out their spending plans. They have pointedly refused to lay out any budgeting, state strategy, or timelines, arguing that they don’t want to get the Democrats an early look at their plans. Politico reports that, so far, only about $2.3M of the Pac’s funds have been spent on candidate support. It may well be that the fund’s leadership is waiting until after the Republican mid-term convention in September, and the conclusion of all the state primaries where party candidates are selected, before they roll out how their vast war chest will be spent. None of this is comforting to the nervous candidates who are already heavily engaged in defining their positions, attacking their opponents, and fighting off increasingly well-funded Democratic candidates. They are also worried about another possibility from the mercurial Trump. He has historically been loathe to financially support other candidates, arguing his public support and personal appearances are like money in the bank to them. Legally, MAGA Inc. funds cannot be contributed directly to any campaign. However, federal law does allow MAGA Inc. funds to be spent on Trump-related political expenses, such as political rallies and fundraisers at Trump venues such as Mar-a-Lago and golf clubs. Many of these funds could also be funneled to consultants who provide services to PAC. But will MAGA Inc. be used for more personal uses. Technically, MAGA Inc. face restrictions on spending for personal legal expenses. The law is not completely clear, however, as to whether the funds can be diverted to Trump’s personal legal use. Trump’s two big Pacs (MAGA Inc. and Save America PAC) have, according to the Brennan Center, already diverted tends of millions of dollars to Trump’s personal lawsuits and legal defense. Trump has also gutted the Federal Elections Commission (FEC), stripping it of its enforcement capabilities and denying it a quorum to conduct any enforcement action. He also signed an executive order after taking office declaring presidential “supervision and control” over the FEC. In short, state Republican candidates are becoming increasingly concerned that the massive MAGA Inc. piggy bank will end up doling out very few resources in support of their campaigns. Rather it will be hoarded as a personal slush fund for Trump’s future legal needs and political aggrandizement.
