Fox News host admits Trump’s war is a mistake [1] ['Oliver Willis'] Date: 2026-07-21 President Donald Trump and Laura Ingraham stand together during a Fox News town hall on Feb. 20, 2024. Fox News host Laura Ingraham called for President Donald Trump to end his war in Iran amid fears that Republicans will lose massively in this year’s midterm elections. During her show on Monday, Ingraham noted that the unpopular war is a major issue driving voter opposition to the GOP. “The clock is ticking for President Trump to get out of this war before voters head to the polls,” she said. “It’s making a lot of Republicans nervous—it’s already, as we know, unpopular.” Ingraham then cited a recent Washington Post/Ipsos poll that found that “69% of Americans disapprove of the handling of this conflict,” while only 29% approve. “Republicans cannot let this become an endless distraction especially if they want to win in November,” she concluded. Notably, Ingraham did not cite deaths and injuries among Americans and Iranians as her main reason for ending the war, nor did she mention the rise in gas prices caused by Trump’s war and idiotic tariffs. An overturned car sits on a section of a destroyed bridge after a strike in Iran on July 18. AP Recent reporting has shown that the Trump administration is misleading on the true extent of injuries in the war, and the scope of Iran’s attacks against U.S. assets is being covered up. Ingraham was focused solely on the political fortunes of the GOP. Public opinion does show that there is massive backlash building against Republicans as Democrats rack up a series of election wins across the country and see strong turnout in primaries. Ingraham, a longtime right-wing media personality, is no middle-of-the road figure. She’s a close ally of Trump, who has used her program to attack his rivals both on the left and right for years. Ingraham wrote a book called “Billionaire at the Barricades” in 2017 praising Trump, and she was a featured speaker at the 2016 Republican National Convention, where she demanded Trump’s then-rivals to bend to his will. A Fox News host pushing to end the war is a bad warning sign for Trump and other Republicans who have gone all in on the war. Fox programming has previously pressured Trump to attack Iran, with on-air hosts using Israel’s military success as an example of what Trump could do in the region. Fox host and conspiracy theorist Mark Levin even visited the White House with a delegation of right-wing activists in June to push for an attack against Iran. By permission of Mike Luckovich and Creators Syndicate Since the war kicked off, Fox has devoted hours of coverage to promoting it, along with Trump’s purported success in the ongoing attacks. In April, Fox Business host and election conspiracy theorist Maria Bartiromo even enlisted the help of AI chatbots to justify the war on Trump’s behalf. Ingraham’s plea is part of a trend in right-wing media, who—despite their disconnection from reality—has understood that the war is a tough sell not just to independents and Democrats, but also to Republicans. Figures like conspiracy theorist Alex Jones have clashed with Trump over his war, even accusing Trump of mental decline for continuing it. Still, the persuasion campaign seems to so far be failing with Trump, the main target. “We’re not finished at all, but if we left right now it would take them a long time—years—to rebuild,” Trump told reporters on Tuesday. “But we’re not leaving right now.” Trump says the fight with Iran will continue indefinitely: "We're not finished at all … we're not leaving right now" — Aaron Rupar (@atrupar.com) 2026-07-21T15:33:23.489Z Trump, who once campaigned against “forever wars,” sure seems inclined to keep U.S. troops in Iran—forever.
