Keurig Queries

Coffee has always been an essential part of beginning the day, and maintaining energy throughout the day. We used percolators of various types, but when we were introduced to Gevalia we were hooked. We bought their drip coffeemaker and waited for the box of vacuum-sealed coffee packs to be delivered by mail, hoping our use would match the delivery schedule. We improved things by adding a timer so the pot was ready when we awoke.

Each of us discovered Keurig individually, but we both loved the concept and immediacy of a cup, so we purchased one. We buy the Kirkland Breakfast Blend for Costco, 600 pods at a time, and timed to match the sales.

When our first one broke we were bereft, driving immediately to the shopping center and replacing it. After a few years, and recently, that one failed. We searched the internets and discovered we were not alone. Lots of videos showing how to repair any problem. Taking off the covers was fraught, and it seemed as though they could only be replaced using duct tape, a seemingly inelegant solution. The problem is a thermal fuse, which is way inside the machine, and can be theoretically reset….if one could reach it. We could not.

The inside of a Keurig, and I’m sure any of the hundreds of copy machines, is more complicated than any computer, and contains computer components, tubes, wires, and much more. We ordered a new top-of-the-line model from Amazon, received it the next day, and we are happy that our world is restored.
