Reprehensible Reality [1]

The actual goal of the US from the beginning for ending the Russia-Ukraine War is reprehensible. It was never about defeating Russia, but rather on how to get Putin to stop without offending him.

Sir Richard Shirreff, NATO’s former deputy supreme commander, at the recent GLOBSEC conference, told a Euromaidan Press reporter that no one besides the Ukraine has ever talked about defeating Russia, with no lasting peace possible until that happens. Admiral Rob Bauer, who chaired NATO’s Military Committee through the war’s first three years, admitted ‘We never said we are helping so Ukraine can win the war.’ In fact, US military assistance was, from the beginning, given with the proviso that weapons provided could not be used to attack military targets in Russia with NATO countries in tow. In other words. defensive use only.

There is a pattern to these deliveries that I believe has been present from the beginning with the US and NATO allies providing Ukraine with just enough weapons to keep Russia from defeating them and, the moment Ukraine was able to start defeating them, a slow down in deliveries until concern about Ukraine getting defeated came up again. If this proves to be true, then the US should be charged with complicity in genocide by the ICC. Although we do not recognize their authority, it will at least make our duplicity clear in the records of human history.

At the moment, the ‘get Putin to negotiate strategy to end the war’ is still primary. Finland’s President Alexander Stubb makes this clear with the following observations and conclusions. “The first year of the war was about survival. The next three years were about resilience. Now it is a question of mathematics—battlefield mathematics.” Then he did the math—’35,000 Russian casualties a month against 27,000 recruits, a loss ratio gone from one-to-three to one-to-eight, Ukraine in April retaking more ground than it lost for the first time in the war. And, I might add, since January 2026, a horrific KIA/WIA ratio 58%-42%.

His conclusions.

‘Ukraine is in “a much stronger position on the battlefield today than at any time since the beginning of the conflict’. “I think we should talk to Putin now because you can only negotiate with the Russians when they are not in a position of power’. Nothing about defeat, a negotiated surrender.

However it ends I hope Ukraine never signs an agreement put forth that uses the term ‘assurances’ rather than ‘guarantees’ again. And that all parties realize that Russian guarantees will be violated the moment they believe they can get away with it. Force will always have to be present as a deterrent. Always. Everywhere, Olympics included.
