Netanyahu admits he started the Iran war last summer [1] ['Chloris Creator', 'Sabrina Haake', 'Wafflehacker Aka Joshhacks'] Date: 2026-06-24 Israel’s Prime Minister gave a speech today about the state of his country’s security in the region and its security challenges ahead under the MoU being finalized between the US and Iran to end all their hostilities in the region. Netanyahu’s speech was given in Hebrew, but most of the translations in English have Netanyahu telling Trump: Israel was about to launch illegal strikes on Iran. And Netanyahu didn’t ask permission, he only informed Trump as a courtesy of sorts. He also played down America’s role in first bombing campaign called, Operation Rising Lion, stating that Trump only decided to join in on the attacks on a “very important action” at the end of the mission. At the end of February, Netanyahu also greenlighted “Operation Roaring Lion” just as Oman’s Foreign Minister revealed at a global press conference — the US was very close to a new “zero enrichment stockpile” nuclear deal with Iran. Netanyahu: When I came to President Trump, I told him: "We are going into Iran." I did not ask permission. I simply informed him of our plan. pic.twitter.com/fd0x4wnYel — Clash Report (@clashreport) June 24, 2026 And here’s Ynet’s translation of a quote from Netanyahu’s belligerent rant today: “There are moments when you have to know how to tell even the president of the United States what we stand for,” Netanyahu said at a local government conference. “When I came to President Trump before Operation Rising Lion, I did not ask for permission. I simply informed him of our plan. To my delight, he also joined toward the end in a very important action,” he added, using the Israeli name for last year’s 12-day Israel-Iran war. Netanyahu also said Israel would maintain its security zone in southern Lebanon “as long as I am prime minister.” He pointed to Israel’s decision to enter Rafah during the Gaza war as another example of resisting U.S. pressure. “I told two presidents — [Joe] Biden before Trump — when they told me, ‘Don’t enter Rafah,’ that I respect him very much, he even came here, but we have no choice,” Netanyahu said. “We will enter, and if necessary, we will fight with our fingernails.” https://www.ynetnews.com/article/h1obbktgge Netanyahu’s narrative of last year’s war timeline gives more gravity to Viceroy Rubio’s statement to the press about how this year’s war unfolded. After reports were breaking of renewed strikes inside Iran, Rubio told the media why the US was involved in another military action, while peace negotiations were being held, and they were so close to a “zero enrichment” deal. Rubio said, that Israel was going to illegally attack Iran again anyway, so the US decided to join in on the illegal strikes because Iran would most certainly retaliate against American bases in the region, because the best defense is a surprise illegal offense, I guess. This isn’t the first time Netanyahu tried to drag the US into a war with Iran. Former Sec. of State Clinton said, Netanyahu was relentless in wanting a war with Iran and he threatened that Israel would strike Iran alone. She told Netanyahu “good luck” as he constantly tried every means at his disposal to derail President Obama’s nuclear enrichment deal with Iran over a decade ago. Nonetheless, if Netanyahu really started both illegal conflicts over the past twelve months with Iran, then there needs to be greater leverage used in Congress to end the war and greater scrutiny by Congressional Committees to investigate the horrific war crimes committed by the US and Israel, especially the murders of 156 civilians, of those 120 children in a school during the initial strikes in Tehran during the first day of the renewed illegal bombing campaign earlier this year. The US-Iran ceasefire talks are still moving forward, despite the occasional demented hiccups from Trump. However, the Israeli government remains the biggest obstacle to a comprehensive regional ceasefire through a deal, by insisting on occupying Lebanon for as long as they see fit. Meanwhile, the Iranian government continues to blame Israel for all the regions problems, but the Iranian people are cautiously hopeful about improving diplomatic and trade relations with the US, Europe and their Arab neighbors for a more peaceful future in the region, and greater prosperity for their country after decades of import restrictions on food, medicine and technologies and crippling financial sanctions on their oil-based economy. “We got from daily bombing to talking about buying corn from the US,” Ehsan, who lives in central Tehran, told Al Jazeera. “So, that’s a good change, but our quality of life is still getting worse by the day.” He was referring to news that Iran will be able to buy humanitarian goods, including food and medicine, by using some of its own funds frozen abroad that are ostensibly to be released as part of the agreement. Iran’s central bank Governor Abdolnaser Hemmati said in a video message on Tuesday that Tehran could buy corn and wheat and other agricultural products from the US if their price and quality are agreeable, but the text of the agreement does not oblige it to do so. https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2026/6/24/iranians-cautiously-optimistic-about-thorny-deal-with-us [END] --- [1] Url: https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2026/6/24/800060185/community/netanyahu-admits-he-started-the-iran-war/ Published and (C) by Daily Kos Content appears here under this condition or license: Site content may be used for any purpose without permission unless otherwise specified. via Magical.Fish Gopher News Feeds: gopher://magical.fish/1/feeds/news/dailykos/
