I Found a Way Around Meta’s Ad Ban on AntiFreeze. Now Pro-ICE Trolls Are Flooding the Comments. [1]

A few weeks ago I wrote about how Meta banned the AntiFreeze Instagram account from running ads before it had ever run a single one. A lot of you showed up in the comments and I appreciated every word.

Here’s the update: I found a workaround.

Meta banned the AntiFreeze account from running ads. What they didn’t ban was my personal ads account, the one I use professionally for marketing work. I assigned it as an advertiser for AntiFreeze and the ads went through without a hitch. Turns out the wall they built had a door in it the whole time.

So I’ve been running video ads on Meta using donation funds from this community. Two campaigns so far. The results have been genuinely good: 15% click-through rate on the latest run, about $0.09 per click, and installs have been climbing steadily. Your donations are working.

But here’s the thing about running ads on Meta in 2026 on an ICE alert app: the pro-ICE crowd shows up.

I’ve had comments calling AntiFreeze a federal crime, accusing it of installing viruses, telling me I’m unemployed, and one person who announced they were “reporting me for obstruction.” I’ve been responding to each one; calmly, with facts, with legal backing from the EFF and Vanderbilt First Amendment Clinic… but I’m one person and the comment section is public.

If AntiFreeze has helped you or someone you know, this is a good time to say so. Not for my ego, but because fence-sitters read comment sections, and right now the loudest voices there are people who think Waze should be illegal.
