The Pushback Chronicles: Post Office Election Shenanigans [1] ['Greg Dworkin', 'Rob In Vermont', 'Thom Hartmann', 'Bill In Portland Maine'] Date: 2026-06-17 As Lucy yanks the football away again, after giving Charlie Brown a written promise not to do so, she remarks, “Peculiar thing about this document. It was never notarized.” That sums up everything to do with Trump, the greatest Lucy in the world. Never mind anything he says about “protecting elections”. It’s all lies, and none of his lies are ever “notarized”. Nothing he says. None of his Executive Orders. None of his “deals” with Iran, or promises to lower prices, or stay out of wars, or help minorities. Nothing. And now here is the Post Office trying to enforce his illegal orders to states to turn over their voter rolls to “protect election integrity”. (In reality to steal every election in sight.) But we get to push back, as always. I have included instructions below on making your voice heard about this illegal power grab. Don’t wait for someone else to do it for you. Support the AGs suing to stop this, but don’t just depend on them. Christians tell us You got to walk that lonesome valley; You got to walk it by yourself. No one else can walk it for you; You got to walk it by yourself. Zen Buddhists say, with Dogen Zenji To do something yourself, without copying others, is to become an example to the world. “Always do right”, said Mark Twain. That will gratify some, and astonish the rest. The Trump administration cleared an initial legal hurdle last month, when a federal judge in Washington, DC, who is overseeing one set of the cases, declined to block Trump’s executive order, allowing the Postal Service to begin implementing it. Last month, US District Court Judge Carl Nichols declined to block Trump’s 2026 executive order – not because he found its directives lawful, but because he said there were unanswered questions about how the government would implement it, so it was too soon for him to intervene. The Democratic Party groups are asking an appeals court to speed up its review of that decision, warning that voters around the country could be disenfranchised in this year’s midterm elections if the proposal is not blocked. The USPS proposal, which was rolled out the day after Nichols’ ruling and is open to public comment, included some notable modifications to what Trump’s March 2026 directive envisioned, softening some of the most stringent limitations on mail-in voting. For instance, it gave states flexibility to continue to modify the voter lists that are submitted to USPS as the midterms approach. Federal Register: Ballot Mail for Federal Elections A Proposed Rule by the Postal Service on 06/02/2026 The Postal Service is proposing to amend the Mailing Standards of the United States Postal Service, Domestic Mail Manual (DMM), regarding the transmission of mail-in or absentee ballots for federal elections pursuant to its rulemaking authority.
