The Media Image Library is Now Even More Useless [1]

Don’t get me wrong. I’m all for requiring ALT text and attributions for all images in an article. This should have been required from the outset even in the early days of Daily Kos (at least in the case of attributions).

However, I am now getting a red message in my drafts stating that I cannot publish an article until every image is given an attribution and alt text. This is rendering anything already existing in the media image library useless for several reasons.

As far as I am aware, you cannot edit information on images you did not upload unlike in DK5. I just tried.

I’ve tried using even STAFF APPROVED AND UPLOADED images from the image library but they lack the alt text and attributions necessary not to trip this new check.

The odds of finding that image in question on the internet again are very low. Certainly, I can replace it with a different one but what if I want a certain image in the library?

This is the first time I’ve been annoyed by article writing on DK6. Comments? Lots of complaints. Article writing? A breeze until now!

Hopefully the powers that be see this and come up with a workaround to grandfather in already uploaded images or you may as well just delete old images in the library altogether.
