WAYWO: Making A Grogu [1]

['Adriana A']

Date: 2026-06-07

Star Wars fans who watched The Mandalorian will recognize this little guy, who began by being known in fandom as “Baby Yoda”…

I first found and downloaded, then printed a public domain free pattern…

Then I bought fabric… I did not like the suggested fabric, so I used a stretch baby fleece… very soft…

,

This turned out not to be as good a choice, as it was too stretchy, and it was hard to get adequate stuffing firmness without over stuffing it and making it bigger, esp the head…

.

I cut out the pieces and laid them out…

…

.

and stitched the head seams, and ears together… I lightly stuffed the ears…

.

.

I did the face embroidery…

.

.

Put the body together…(no pictures), and finished stitching and stuffing the head… the ears flopped, so I redid them, and added some wire to lift them… it was better, but I recommend stiffer wire… it called for fabric applique eyes, but I liked the button eyes much more…

.

.

It was time to start the robe…

.

.

it was not a well designed robe, so I ended up tweaking it a bit…

.

I made 3 total…

.

before I redid the ears…

.

.

.

my daughter and her then fiancé, now hubby, loved them….

.

I also did a Pikachu for him, not as many pictures, but I used novelty fabric for ear tips and tail… it too was a free public domain pattern…

.

.

.

.

I did the same with it… embroidered the face, it was easier to stuff the smaller ears… attached the ears, sewed the button eyes… sewed the arms and legs, stuffed everything… closed it up…

It is adorable…

.

.

loved the cheek fabric…

.

Loved the tail…

.

.

They were very easy as well as fun to do…

What are you working on…
