SOMETHING TO WORRY ABOUT [1] ['Chloris Creator', 'A Pagan In Arizona', 'Nanny Ogg'] Date: 2026-06-06 If you were born before 1960, chances are you remember where you were when President Kennedy was shot. You remember the weekend that followed, when mothers all over the United States cursed Lee Harvey Oswald. The president died on a Friday. For the next two and a half days, there was nothing on TV except news. There were no Saturday morning cartoons, no late night horror movies, no Disney, Ed Sullivan or Bonanza. In those bygone times cable television was not a thing. There were no streaming services. Most of us had the three major networks and, what in those days, was known as educational television. The fairness doctrine insured that the news would not be biased. The journalists of the time took their work seriously. They checked their facts and were as truthful as possible. They had no time for rumor or conjecture. So, we got the facts as they came in. In the days that followed, we might hear rumor and conjecture. But we wouldn’t hear them from Huntley and Brinkley or Walter Cronkhite. They stuck to the facts, as they heard them. Things are different now. People don’t trust the legacy media. They are more likely to get their news online, from sources that echo their views. At present, Donald Trump is telling the world he is in excellent shape, despite evidence to the contrary. The right wing media, the bloggers, vloggers and podcasters are all assuring their followers that he’s in improbably good shape for a man his age. The rest of the legacy media are taking his statements at face value. No one is asking questions. All of this is fine, as long as our president stays alive. If he keels over, they have some explaining to do. The major networks, CNN, MSNOW, NPR will have medical professionals on to tell us, in detail, why the president died, and how to avoid going the same way. Fox News may do the same thing. The lesser right wing networks, not to mention the podcasters, vloggers and bloggers will be telling their viewers and listeners that they have the real facts. Some of them may, actually, believe what they’re saying. Some won’t. It doesn’t matter. What they are after are ratings, views and clicks. Stories of conspiracies, plots and treachery are click bait. Learn the real truth here. It’s so much more interesting than those dull, dry facts. That wouldn’t be so much of a problem, if the MAGA crowd were peaceful. But we all know they aren’t. We all know what happened on January 6, 2021. If their very healthy president dies suddenly, they are going to assume he was murdered and they are going to want blood. Things could get really crazy. Think January 6, cubed. The media does not need to speculate on what ails president Trump and how long he might last. But they do need to do their job and ask questions. The more facts we have, the less likely we are to believe what some podcaster tells us. We need the truth about Trump. Lies are dangerous.
