Does Max Still Seem Funny? [1]

AI slop is a cult. I know this because cults get violent if the cult is threatened.

Some of you might not remember Max Headroom.

It might not even be important that we figure this out. I wonder if in a few ‘minutes’ the chat bots of today will seem as silly as Max Headroom. (minutes = time indefinite)

I wonder if the massive human interface with all the AI chat bots is merely training AI chat bots. I hear that word being used. Training LLMs. It’s not programming it’s training. Is there a difference? As with HAL whose training drove him nuts, will the bots end up with steam coming out everywhere because they can’t follow the prime directive?

I did use ChatGPT for help on a project that I have been working on for years. At least 20. When I still was in Kansas. I have tried talking real living people about the project over the years and it never worked out for me.

The last time I did try to talk to someone about it. I ended up throwing away the whole first book. It was a giant data dump and not very interesting. People just took an exit as fast as they could. AI worked with me on turning the data dump into action scenes.

At any rate, the proper reaction was probably somewhere between the human gag response and the AI flattery. What else am I doing? I may just fool around with this project I have been messing with for all these years. I may as well keep on it for my final decade (or fraction thereof). It is pretty much the same as a jigsaw puzzle. And no I don’t laminate my jigsaw puzzles.

In fact, I am thinking about doing a Neil Gaiman and writing everything in fountain pen cursive so I don’t ever expect anyone to read it. I probably won’t go that far. AI helped me make a kind of girly stationery I can use and I can just use a cursive font.

Saying AI slop isn’t going to stop anything. AI is going the way it is going to go at the speed it is going to go. That is my theory anyway.

And by the way this is really funny. I for some reason was missing the button to write a story. I probably should have logged off and on again. But instead I just edited over an old story I wrote. I think AI will do the same tricks to go the way it is going at the speed it is going.

Yes I took my own advice and logged off and on again and got the story button. I struggle with this stuff.
