The Autopsy Fallout [1]

['Bill In Portland Maine', 'Greg Dworkin']

Date: 2026-05-22

Ever since yesterday I’ve been seing a lot of Autopsy analytics and criticism across my social media and to a lesser degree on DK.

Across social media you’d think the autopsy was the latest blockbuster movie thriller to be released. I’m watching all this with a somewhat confused look on my face. The titles like “It’s Bad” “Democrats this or that” “We look weak” etc… and I keep turning back to one question “Who benefits from this?”.

Last week it was all “Republicans are going to tank it the mid-terms” “We are poised to win the House and maybe the Senate!” Enthousiasm and hope were up the proverbial whazoo (never tried to spell that word before). What is gained by bashing any parts of the Democratic party 6 months before the mid terms? Who benefits?

We were optimistic! Energized! We were winning many many seats, flipping districts and counties and local houses. And now it’s like a deflated balloon.

I can tell you one thing, it ain’t the left, no matter which faction you associate yourself with. Demoralizing voters this close to an election is political suicide. So again I ask who benefits?

Sometimes I seriously wonder if people think about the aftermath of things they do or say, well I often wonder that. Because frankly the self sabotage across the US political spectrum is widespread.

Anyways I hope there’s enough time to recover from whatever the eff this was about. Because you might view yourselves as liberal, leftists, progressives, centrist etc… the voters only see the Democratic Party.
