Sunday Morning Open Thread with Music by Cat Stevens [1]

['Ice Blue', 'View Profile', 'Chitown Kev']

Date: 2026-05-17

Good morning, everyone. This morning’s featured artist is Yusuf Islam, better known to all as Cat Stevens. I know, I’ve run his music before but it’s been a while. I hope nobody minds.

But first off,

Morning Open Thread is a daily, copyrighted post from a host of editors and guest writers. We support our community, invite and share ideas, and encourage thoughtful, respectful dialogue in an open forum. Join us, please.

I’m finishing this diary up on Friday afternoon. We have a good chance at some severe thunderstorms in store for us tonight. The last thing I need is for a repeat of those internet outages that I’ve had recently right while I have a diary to finish. Also, I am one of those sad Kos users who have been getting periodically dumped from this site and then can’t log back in without the Help Desk emailing me a new password. I might as well draft this while I can.

Now to make matters worse, in my rush to get this done and stored, I accidentally published a previous edition of this diary. If there is any way of unpublishing it without pressing the Move to Trash button I don’t know how to do it. So that’s what I did. Now I’m finishing up Edition 2.0.

We’re always looking for new diarists whether to assume weekly duties or for a one shot deal. Contact either officebss or Ozarkblue if you’re interested.

Now on with the tunes.

So what’s on your mind this morning?
